When a work limit says someone can follow only one- or two-step instructions, the word “simple” may leave an important detail unclear: what instructions do the proposed jobs require? The question is what the record says about the person’s limits and the tasks of the jobs being considered. A broad label alone may not answer whether those tasks fit. Put the specific limit beside the job description: what instructions does the job require, and how many steps? The answer depends on the full record, including the actual work demands and the evidence about the person.
